Did you know that maple syrup contains the same antioxidants as blueberries? Although real maple syrup is made up of 66 to 67% sugar, many people consider it closer to honey than to sugar. Research has shown that it contains over 20 beneficial compounds. Many of these compounds are antioxidants, which prevent the development and growth of tumors, and also have anti-diabetic and anti-bacterial properties.
However, maple syrup is still just liquid sugar, high in carbohydrates, so don’t overdo it. Its main components are sucrose and water, with smaller amounts of glucose and fructose.
100 grams of maple syrup contains 260 calories, 0.04 grams of protein, 0.06 grams of fat, and 67 grams of carbohydrates. And here lies the secret — about 10% of those carbohydrates are healthy dietary fibers.
Maple Syrup as Medicine
Maple syrup contains a lot of manganese and zinc (both crucial for the immune system), and compared to honey, it has significantly less sodium. The most important vitamins in maple syrup are niacin, B5, B2, folic acid, B6, biotin, vitamin A, and B5. Vitamin B6 is key in protein and amino acid metabolism, enabling the conversion of one type of amino acid into another.
The combination of maple syrup and baking soda (make sure it’s aluminum-free medical-grade) is an incredibly powerful remedy. Researchers were surprised by its impact on cancer treatment. Sodium bicarbonate significantly increases the body's alkalinity, which results in more oxygenated cancer cells. The fact is, cancer cells can’t survive in such conditions. Studies have confirmed the effect of baking soda on the pH balance of cancer cells.
Because of its composition, maple syrup is an ideal energy source and therefore an excellent carrier of baking soda to cancer cells (liquid sugar penetrates the bloodstream more easily and quickly).
All you need to do is mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 3 teaspoons of maple syrup. Cook this mixture for 5 to 10 minutes at 120{-15696}C.
Eat 2 to 3 teaspoons daily, making sure there is at least a 2-hour gap between each spoonful.
Of course, this spoonful alone is not enough to ensure good health. If you want to heal, remove meat, sugar, and white flour from your diet.
This combination is also great for prevention, especially during the cold autumn days, as it also strengthens the immune system.
